The OK Final of the European Championship at Kristianstad had excellent weather conditions, with blue sky, sun and moderate wind.
Dexter Patterson (KR / Iame) took the lead, but Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / Iame) attacked him before the end of the first lap. The Brit attempted to retaliate on the straight and then lost several places and was 6th. Behind the Spaniard, Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR / Iame) was 2nd in front of Gabriele Mini’ (Parolin / TM), Luigi Coluccio (BirelART / TM) and Matheus Morgatto (Tony Kart / Vortex) who had started 13th. As Patterson tried to return, Travisanutto took 1st place and Mini’ attempted an attack on Hiltbrand. The manoeuvre succeeded on the second attempt. Coluccio, Morgatto and Matias Salonen (KR / Iame) passed Hiltbrand.
Travisanutto escaped in front of Mini and Coluccio, and the fight in the chasing pack was led by Salonen. Kirill Smal (Tony Kart / Vortex) was missing, and Dino Beganovic (Tony Kart / Vortex) had dropped to the back of the pack. At the halfway point, Travisanutto was 1.2” ahead, Coluccio 1” ahead of Mini’ with Salonen also 1′ behind, but Patterson was close to 4th. Mini’ showed a revival from lap 16 and halved his lead in five laps. In contrast Patterson no longer seemed able to threaten Salonen’s 4th position.
Travisanutto finally won 3.5” ahead of Mini’, Coluccio took 3rd as in the World Championship of 2018, Salonen kept his 4th place four tenths ahead of Patterson. Joseph Turney (Tony Kart / Vortex) finished his recovery of five places in 6th place ahead of Taylor Barnard (KR / Iame) and Hannes Janker (KR / Iame). The only Frenchman in the race, Franck Chappard (Redspeed / Iame) gained nine places in 20th position.
